British Embassy Delegation Visits Asuda Print E-mail

 Sulaymaniyah, 17 March 2009: A delegation from the British Embassy Office in Erbil visited Asuda and met Ms. Khanum Raheem Lateef, Asuda's Programme Manager. The delegation comprised Mr. Steve Ashkar, 2nd Secretary, Management/Migration and Mr. Richard Pearce-Higginson from the Migration Directorate of the Foreign Commonwealth Office in London.

The visiting delegation discussed with Asuda the status of Women in Iraq in general and Kurdistan Region in particular. Both sides also discussed Asuda's activities and programmes as well as the role of civil society organizations and NGOs in upholding women's rights and steps taken by the authoirties to improve the status of women's rights in the region.

Several other issues related to protection of women from gneder-based violence were also discussed.
